Street Fest in Ticonderoga on July 31

So far, this summer has been one of those where you really just want to hang out in or on the lake as much as possible, But if you can tear yourself away from the lake for a few hours, we recommend a visit to the Ticonderoga Street Fest, which will be held Saturday, July 31,  from 10 am to 4 pm, along downtown Montcalm Street. From the corner of Lake George Avenue to the corner of Champlain Avenue you’ll find arts and crafts vendors, specialty food kiosks, sidewalk sales and a farmers’ market.  You might also want to check out some of the displays — for instance of antique cars, boats and more.
Fort Ticonderoga’s Fife and Drum Corps will kick off the event, marching down Montcalm Street. Other live musical entertainment is planned throughout the day.
Whether you’re planning to do some early holiday shopping or looking for something unique for yourself, you’re likely to find it among the artisans specializing in wood crafts, toys, jewelry, glass, rustic furniture and more.
Penelope the Clown will be on hand, offering face painting and balloon art for the kids. And speaking of kids, they’ll enjoy treats like snow-cones, deep-fried Oreos and more. Oh, yes, and there will also be plenty of tasty food items for the adults as well — in case the deep-fried Oreos don’t exactly fit into your diet plan. And now for our trivia question: Which has more calories: deep-fried Oreos or S’mores? And more importantly, does anyone really care?
Note that Montcalm Street will be closed to traffic from Lake George Avenue to Champlain Avenue from 8 am to 5 pm that day. Rain date is Sunday, August 1.
