Crown Point State Historic Site

Fort St. Frederic was built between the years of 1734 and 1737 and was the major French stronghold in the Champlain Valley before it fell to a British army
in 1759.
Fort Crown Point was one of the largest British fortifications constructed in Colonial North America. The fort secured the French claims and kept open important lines of communications between New York and Canada.
A Visitor Center provides an introduction to the site and its history with exhibits and an audio-visual presentation. There is a self-guided walking tour of the grounds. Group tours are available with advance reservations.
Visitor Center is Open June through October, Wed - Sat 10am to 5pm. Independence Day and Labor Day. The grounds & picnic area are open all year.
